Bohyo must have been too focused on not losing it the whole time. Her eyes were fixed at a newspaper in her hands, scanning through every line, but not picking up on any information.

“Ah, noona.” She jumped in her seat, looking up at Donghae's smile, his carefree smile. She hated to take it away. He sat down slowly by her side. She must have looked so worn out. “Really, I don't think it's so bad if Sungah-ssi has tripped and hit her head. I mean, she'll probab-”

“Donghae-yah, first of all, it was not your fault, whatever you think, it was def-”

“Can you get to the point?”

“The thing is that Sungyeon didn't come home to the apartment last night, so we thought she was with that guy from yesterday.” Donghae's eyes widened as she spoke. “And so they called from the hospital. I-it looks like she was-”

Before she could even finish the sentence, Donghae jumped up from his chair and smashed his fist into the wall opposite them. He wanted to scream, but nothing came out. Bohyo's hands were shaking and she was desperately trying to focus her own anger on the paper in her hands. Seeing Donghae like that was enough to break her heart the second time that day.

While gasping for air, he sat down leaning against the wall and buried his head in his hands. Bohyo was gathering the courage to sit down beside him.

“Hae, I know it's hard,” she whispered. There was no answer. “She's still alive at least. Donghae, please, answer me, tell me something.”

“Can we see her?” He sounded so pitiful.

“She doesn't want anyone to see her.” A sigh of pain left his throat after her response, head leaning against the wall now.

“I-it's like, if I had him, right here, fuck, I don't know if I would be able to control myself,” Donghae was trying his hardest to keep calm while talking, “do you understand how badly I would make him suffer?”

“Hey, with me you've got four hands to strangle him with. You're not the only one seeking vengeance.”

He coughed a little, seemed to be gathering all of his senses, which also seemed to be pretty hard. He looked around, a little confused.

“Where's Sungah-ssi? Isn't she supposed to be here?”

“She went somewhere with a nurse just before you came. I think she's in need of painkillers, that poor girl.”

“For what?”

“For the entire body I suppose. Minhyo won't be happy if she finds out,” Bohyo stared with blank eyes in front of her. It was weird thinking about anything other than being worried for Sungyeon.

“I see,” Donghae raised his eyebrows and nodded. Something suddenly hit him it seemed. He rested his hands against his palms once again, like a wave of bad conscience just had washed over him.

“How are you holding up?” Bohyo moved a hand up and down his back.

“I've got something stuck in my head.”

“What?”

“I know who to blame if anything turns bad,” he quoted.

“Who said that?”

“My little raspberry, the last thing she told me before I got out. I guess I should have out a little more effort in finding her a sane man.”

“Donghae! Anyone of us could've picked him, even Sungyeon. He looked like a perfectly normal guy.”

“I still can't get it out of my head.”

“Honey, I've known Sungyeon for many years, even longer than you have. I know she's not blaming you for anything, the comment was completely innocent.” Silence filled the air, none of them particularly in the mood of talking. Though finally, Donghae had had enough.

“I'm gonna go find Sungah-ssi.”

He stood up abruptly, and Bohyo still sitting there on the floor. He was in desperate need of clearing his thoughts somehow. Maybe through moving. He came to the end of the corridor, looked left, and looked right. The hospital seemed extremely empty for being a Saturday. When he squinted his eyes he could see Sungah's character coming towards him. He shouldn't have left his glasses at home. When she approached he noticed the way she was walking. She was wobbling pretty bad, it didn't look normal for a women with all her senses in check.

“Oppaaaaa, where have you been all my life?” she shrieked when she noticed him.

“Sungah-ssi, are you feeling alright? You look a little... lost.”

“I don't think I've ever felt better. Why are you calling me -ssi anyway? It's so... formal.”

“I suppose I don't know you that well yet. Formal speech just comes naturally in the beginning. I'll get scolded by my hyungs otherwise,” he smiled a little, surprising himself at that.

“You know me now, because I can call you... what is it that they say? Fish? Fi-, Fish-, Fishy! Unnie called you Fishy one time! Fishy, Fishy, Fishy fish.”

“That's great,” he paused for a second, “Sungah. How much did the nurses give you?”

“I'm not really sure. But she gave me something for the pain I was feeling, and y'know, when she was looking away, oops, I took some more. But don't tell anyone, because it's a secret. They're reeeeeally good for my head.” She was basically putting her whole bodyweight on his shoulder, giggling as he did so. He sighed and kept her arm around his shoulder for stability.

“Great, Sungyeon is in a hospital bed, and you're high on drugs. Next is me losing my mind.” He looked down on the giggling girl, unable to stand by herself. “What do you say of going back to Bohyo unnie so she won't be so alone?”

“I'm gonna give her a biiiig hug when we get there.”

Sungah's behaviour eased Donghae's mind a little, but he was still tense. He could feel it was going to be a long day at the hospital if Sungyeon didn't make up her mind soon about letting them see her. Sungah was wobbling so bad Donghae had to help her walk straight. The younger sat down beside Bohyo, tilting her head against he unnie's shoulder. Donghae continued walking back and forth through the corridor, humming melodies to empty his head. When an hour had had passed a nurse came out of Sungyeon's room and approached Bohyo, who reacted immediately.

“Well?”

“She's struggling with some matters, but said you could come in. Just know she's still in some sort of shock.”

Donghae was eager to see her, and at the same time not at all. The bad conscience was burning inside of him. He was the first one to enter the room and see their friend sitting in her hospital bed, practically staring into nothing with her arms around her. The right side of her face was lightly bruised, and her bottom lip had burst. She wasn't giving any sign of reacting to them coming into the room. Bohyo pushed Donghae slightly on the shoulder. He took a deep breath and sat down in front of her on the bed.

“Baby?” She wasn't responding, just turning her head toward him and looking him into the eyes, hers cold and hollow. There was something off, she wasn't the Sungyeon he knew. It felt like a stranger was looking at him. When she finally came to recognize the familiar face, something changed in her eyes. She looked hurt, but she was Sungyeon, his Sungyeon. Without saying anything else he kissed her gently on her bruised cheek and leaned his forehead against hers, watching her silent tears fall down on his lap.
