“Hi, you were pretty good.” He didn't seem to hear her at first, but when she had repeated herself, he smiled warmly.

“Thank you. It's nice hearing people appreciating it. I saw you cheering for us, and I think I saw your friend talking to our drummer just a minute ago.” His smile really gave her the butterflies, but she tried to put on a good face.

“She was head over heels for him,” she giggled. She knew she should ask for his name, but for some reason she didn't really care. She just liked having him around. “I hope you'll win this.”

Her heart sank a little when he seemed to lose interest in talking with her, that was what his body language told her. Though suddenly, he moved a little closer, she could feel his breath on her cheek. The tingling in her stomach was too obvious to ignore.

“Hey,” he started off, “did you see that Donghae from Super Junior is here?”

She just stared at him for a second. The battle was lost. She opened her mouth, on her way telling about her and Donghae's relation to one another, when she quickly changed her mind, ready to play along.

“No way, where?” she asked, voice a little high-pitched, intentionally.

“Right over there, look,” she followed his pointing hand toward the counter, where Donghae stood and chattered away with a girl she thought she had seen before. She giggled and turned back.

“You like Super Junior?”

“They're kind of good, but that man is pretty hot. Did you know he's from here?”

She stared at him for a second, deciding what to do next. Great, he was turned on by men, and of course by her best friend. The guy was literally drooling over him. She decided that is was time to blow her cover. “Will you just excuse me one tiny second.”

She knew he was staring at her back as she made her way across the room. Donghae gladly welcomed her with a peck on the cheek. She smirked and leaned in closer.

“Do you see the guy that looks like he's checking out my ass?” Donghae looked over her shoulder, and after getting a nod and quick laugh she continued, “well, he's got the hots for you.”

Donghae opened his mouth to say something, but closed it again.

“Do you want me to introduce you?”

“Do you want a good laugh?” Sungyeon nodded and smiled sheepishly, “well then, lead the way, bao bei.”

She grabbed his wrist and tugged him through the room, past all the people, over to the guy, who she still hadn't asked about his name. He squirmed slightly against the wall as Donghae just casually leaned against it.

“I give you; Super Junior's incredibly handsome Donghae, and Donghae, this is, at this moment, an incredibly awkward person who was just dying to meet you,” Sungyeon tried to say while holding her laughter in.

“So,” Donghae started, “I heard you're into Super Junior.”

“W-well, I j-just-, I sort o-, y'know, l-like,” he stuttered. Donghae was so in the moment he forgot about everything else, not really caring about his idol appeal. He never did when he was home anyway. There he was just Donghae, the boy from Mokpo. He put one finger on the guy's lips, to stop him from rambling, and leaned closer to his face.

“Ookay, I'll just leave you two alone,” Sungyeon stated and headed back to their table to watch what happened from afar. Bohyo shot her a questioning look.

“Where's Donghae?”

“Oh, you know, he's just having one of those “I'm going to hit on a guy”-moments.”

“Again? They just keep increasing, even though you push it” Bohyo sighed, and motioned for the younger to sit down next to her. “Are you doing good?”

“I guess.”

“What does that mean?”

“Well, even Donghae gets guys easier than me.” It wasn't supposed to sound whiny, though it probably did. Bohyo nodded, understanding the feeling and draped an arm around her dongsaeng. It took around 7 minutes for Donghae to get over to their table, after his chat was over. He lazily dropped down on Sungyeon's lap, because of the lack of places to sit.

“How was the date?” Sungyeon asked, putting on a smiled.

“It was alright. A nice conversation, a few kisses, got his phone number. He came with pretty nasty suggestions, but I clearly stated that there would be no sex on the first date.”

Both of the women tilted their heads to the side to eye him suspiciously, and lord, was that painful. It merely took Donghae half a minute to cover his face with his hands and start laughing because of his charade. Of course he was making it all up.

“But I though-”

“Yeah, you thought, Yeonnie, but he was so darn straight. You were basically handing over that man, without making sure about the details first.”

“But he said-”

“Doesn't mean that a man is homosexual, he might as well just have honest opinions. And now he's gone, because he had to go,” Donghae raised his hands to make a point of defending the other. Sungyeon only looked shocked, not really sure what to do next. “You can't continue giving me the good ones. If I were you, young lady, I'd change my damn tactic, if I would want to get somewhere in life.”

“Shut up,” she shoved him onto the floor, “go buy me another drink and point out someone good then.”

Donghae made his way to the counter, when there trying to figure out what kind of drink Sungyeon would have wanted. It took a few minutes to make it good enough. He was just on his way of heading back, when a beauty managed to get his attention.

“Hello, handsome,” she said, twirling some of her hair through her fingers. After all, it wouldn't be too nice of him not to stop for a small chat.

“Great, Donghae just found one,” Sungyeon sighed, after glancing over at the counter, the drink she longed for put down on the table.

“Are you mourning the loss of your drink, or the fact that Donghae just got taken from you?” Bohyo commented.

“I really, really wanted my drink. If you are suggesting that Donghae and I are ought to be “a thing” you really need to get your brain checked.”

“You two are as close as a married couple should be.”

“But you see, this is what would happen if we started going out; he would start hitting me after a few years, and I would start drinking without control. And when we got kids, they would get bullied at school, and finally he would go to jail for attempted murder on me.” Bohyo stared at her with her eyebrows raised, incapable of answering. “We've talked about this before.”

“Fine, fine, I will leave it at that,” the older sighed. “Hey, did you notice that Sungah went away with that guy?”

“The drummer? Where did they go?”

“I'm not sure, but if we go out in the back we'll probably find them stuck to the wall, suffocating each other with their tongues.”

“Hey ladies, I'm out for the night. Here's your drink, Yeonnie,” Donghae said in a haste, putting down the glass in front of Sungyeon, and tried to make a leave as quickly as he could. Sungyeon gasped a little and received a look from Bohyo which told her 'you get him!'

“Yah, Lee Donghae! Honestly, I thought you were better than that. Leaving without keeping a promise, what kind of friend is that? I end up alone, and you're already heading out the door with a girl you've known for ten minutes. What happened to 'no sex on the first date'?!”

“But it feels like I've gotten to know her, and you know it's been forever. Can't you just look over this one time?”

“But that doesn't include a broken promise.”

“You're right. Hold on for a second then.” He looked around, scanned the room, tried to do his best to analyse the persons his eyes fell upon. He finally managed to find a guy that didn't looked taken by anyone, who looked a lot like Sungyeon's 'type' of guy and didn't look like a creepy one. He smirked and pointed in the direction. “He's all yours.”

“I'll give it a shot. Now, just make sure she's no crazy fangirl who will only abduct you and keep you in her basement for the coming years.”

“And then Sungyeon destroyed all of my good thoughts about her. It's okay, she's doesn't even listen to Super Junior. I'll call you tomorrow,” he lightly pecked her on her cheek again with consideration, “good night, bao bei.” He walked back to the woman who'd been waiting for him by the door.

“I know who to blame if anything turns bad,” she called out after him, not really sure how big the chance of him hearing it was. When actually turning her attention to the 'chosen' one, she realized how good taste in men Donghae actually had. Looking over at Bohyo, she got a thumb up for approval and that said it.

She focused on getting eye contact with him for a few minutes, and when she got it at last, he looked kind of interested in her too. It took him a while to get over to where she stood.

“How are things?” he asked, stroking her bare arm, making her shiver a little.

“Can't complain about them.” She was trying to play hard to get, if only for a little while, in the beginning at least.

“What do you say about getting out of here?” She frowned.

“I don't even know you.”

“Alright, hello, my name is Eunjoon, and I work at a factory downtown. It's not great salary, but it's enough for me to live and come to places like this on the weekends. What about you?”

“Uhm, Sungyeon, and I help a friend run a café nearby during the days, and it's great for social points, so the salary doesn't really matter. And on weekends I either stay at home or get dragged down here for free drinks from the owner if we behave,” she was blushing, she was certain of it, but she still didn't care, still the world was a little foggy.

“Do you wanna follow me outside? The air is getting hard to breathe in.” He was right, and she couldn't resist his charm really. Besides, this kind of guy wasn't going to throw himself at her, was he? She nodded her head and took his hand as he led the way toward the door. She didn't even think for a second about telling Bohyo where she went, the older probably knew anyway.

When outside, she pulled her cardigan and coat over her shoulders. The temperature had gone from cool to cold under a few hours. He held onto her hand and led her to the wall a few metres away from the main entrance of the bar.

“So, what do you want to become when you grow up then?” Sungyeon laughed at the irony of the question.

“Probably some sort of musician, that wouldn't be so wrong. You?”

“Head of the factory, of course. That's probably every man's dream.”

“Some might disagree.”

“Is that so?”

“Mhm.”

“Anyhow, are you seeing someone right now?” He was standing a little bit closer, and frankly, she didn't mind at all.

“Me? Oh, no, not right now, but I can spend that time on friends instead, if you want to see it from the positive side.”

“That's great. I'm really glad you made eye contact in there. I was about to go under from boredom.”

“My pleasure, really.”

“Why don't you just... follow me,” he said and took her hand gently, She wasn't thinking of where they were going, but she found herself walking arm in arm with him in the park that lay nearby. He really didn't seem like a creepy guy, so she'd let her guard down just a little. He was really good at making her laugh, but not in the way her guy friends could.

“I've always wondered about that weird statue,” he said, pointing out a monument which stood on one end of the park. It was clear he wasn't from the neighbourhood.

“It's always been there. I think some old important man had it put up. No one has even gotten the purpose of it though, but everyone is kind of stuck on it,” she told him, though so lost in her own words she had failed to notice him being absent from her side. She looked behind her, “why are you stopping?”

“It's fucking hard when people won't understand.”

“Of course I know that,” she looked around her, no other person in sight, “is something wrong?”

“You wouldn't understand a thing, you stupid whore, you're just like everyone else.” Something seemed to just have clicked inside of him, and she didn't like the sound of it, at all, but she was somehow frozen on her spot.

“Whore? It's not like you picked me up at a fucking brothel,” she argued back.

“Just shup up!” He came at her and slapped her hard across the face with the back of his hand. She fell to her side, holding a protective hand over her now sore, and probably red cheek. He forcefully grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the grovel, face first. In the state of shock as she was in, she really didn't pay attention to how much the stones actually hurt against her body parts. Panic was a feeling taking the upper hand though, but of course he was way stronger than her.

She hated the fact that she probably wasn't going to sleep in her own bed, after that she couldn't really think properly, as pain ensnared every tiny cell of her body.
