DA--- sometimes works!

As I've said previously in other posts, I find the "Daily deviation" criteria is quite random at deviantART. Sometimes I really wonder what the heck happens in the people that features works at there. But sometimes they also do right ellections.

Actually I'm surprised because this Slayers work by Ly-xu, a chinesse artist (which is obvious, btw) has ( Read more... )

I don't know how they do daily deviations, either. I remember when Zanne posted the Ultimate Sesshoumaru Plush that she did (and omg, that thing is gorgous http://zanne.deviantart.com/art/The-Ultimate-Sesshoumaru-Doll-21010401), she was noted by one of the mods that she had been suggested for a Daily Deviation, but that they weren't going to select her work because it had too many views or she was already popular (or some other bullshit) so they featured her in a journal instead. The reasoning was that they wanted to feature little known artists whose work is exceptional, but I've seen SEVERAL people who have gotten more than one Daily Deviation, so I don't know what the reasons behind it are anymore.

Not saying this picture doesn't deserve it, I think it's amazing!

Ah, yes! The Sesshoumaro push! I remeber that and I agree, it's a wonderful work, even if I'm not into Inu-Yasha.
I didn't know that work of hers was chategorized as "possible daily deviation". But even if I agree with the reasoning of "we don't choice pics that are already that popular", happens it is NOT truth.
So yes, I can see why you say you don't understand their reasons to make a pic as "daily deviation".
I've noticed mostly of the daily-deviation fanarts pics use to happen the most popular works among the most popular fanartis in certain fandom. So that excuse is just crap.

Besides, what about the danmn "green flower" that was a daily deviation? And what about all those bourdel photos than the creepy old man takes everytime he visits it? Get the out here! Those don't deserve any recognition like this at all.

I agree, they don't! And what about all those "shock" pictures of people pulling intestines out or cutting their throats or *shudder* the one where the woman looked like she was slicing her tongue in half? I don't want to see that!

If you speak about Slayers fanarts, I totally agree. LyXu has this prize well deserved.

Oh, I don't mind. It's just I find a little bizarre the criteria they use from choicing the "daily deviation". Since I saw that day they choice a kid's doodle about a green flower, I have the feeling mostly time they're making fun of people.

Agree. It's totally done with SAI, certainly it's a hard work.
I also am glad a Slayers fanart get recognition... mostly when it's so well deserved. Good for her.

Oh, yes! That's one of the particuarities of Chinese artist; they are VERY patient about little details, and work a lot along they have to get something done. Even Japanese artists -as good as they tend to be- aren't like that.

I've seen other Chinese Slayers fanarts by other artist, though. And none of them is like this.

Pues vete a saber.

sometimes it's a matter of popularity, which I find rather stupid as well. I don't think you're alone when you question some of the fanart that is considered "worthy" as a daily deviation.

there are a few fanarts outside the big fandoms that do get some spotlight but i have to admit that one from Slayers is a shocking surprise! and it's quite welcome!
I have no doubt Ly-Xu deserves the election. she's an amazing artist.
Actually, this I don't see Ly-Xu drawing amelia facing back very often. I could be wrong but i do believe it's just coincidence.

Precisely. Sometimes (ok, many times) I've seen many daily deviations that happens to be done by the most popular authors in certain fandoms. At least if we speak about fanarts.
If we speak about original art, I still wondering the point about those photos that certain creepy oldman did in the bourdel and were nominated as daily deviation.

I also agree Ly-xu deserves this; this work is far better than the previous Slayers daily deviation *cof-cof*.
About Amelia from behind, actually I only remember a "group pic" where she appars from the front and not from behind. I know actually she likes her, thus I guess it's a coincidence... but let's hope she changes that.

uuuurgh I don't want to talk about the bad ones either. *shiver*

aaaah, i see i see. I can show you a few pictures where you can actually see her face, if you want. I counted the times amelia faces back and it's not that much really.
I do share your disappointment in not seeing her face but i am content that she's with Zel XD
