Mine is definitely when the space shuttle Challenger blew up. I was five and it was really sad.

Agree with the Challenger blow-up. I think I remember watching it in class in 2nd grade, (a launch is supposed to be a good thing, after all) and being upset and confused.

BTW - big, sweeping congratulations again on the law review!! :-)
