I still find it absolutely amazing the grasp you have on English. Honestly, you put most college educated Americans to shame. That may not mean much to your Mother, but tell her I said that anyway. You may be influenced by our culture in the movies you watch and even the "foreign" ( feh, like English is foreign anywhere anymore ) language you speak, but most Americans are truly brainwashed by our culture. At least you have readily available foreign viewpoints and morals and a decent English education. Most people here are raised 100% by the TV, and it shows in their language. Hell, every time I use a word not typically used in sitcoms, game shows, newscasts or cartoons I get blank stares. It's rather disheartening. And don't even get me started on world politics! Most Americans wouldn't know communism from fascism if they were pulling on opposite arms. *sigh* You wouldn't believe how many people here always use communism for any form of government they don't understand...I've heard everything from dictatorships to other ( ... )

Oh, tell.me.about.it. Haha, I get that sometimes too, but you know, I've kind of mastered the art of communication whereby I try to mind the type of speech a person uses and go ahead with it. That way, the conversations get simplified and things wouldn't get too confusing, heh.

And I get you on the Jap thingers! My bro has gotten some cool Playstation games that only comes in the Japanese version, so eh, some education in that area would be good, no? ;) However, Jap sounds even more difficult than Mandarin. There are some similarities between these two, but I think Jap is a tad more difficult. (But you know, I have a slight suspicion that I have been labelling nearly everything foreign to me as "difficult". I know, I know, I'm just teeming with self-confidence..*sarcasm*) ;)

Ooooh...new layout openhead January 21 2004, 03:10:32 UTC
Well, it seems I'm walking you home =)

After that marathon post I thought it only fair to take a look at your new layout. Usually I just view my friends through my friends page, but that means I miss out on all that lovely formatting you've worked so hard on. I must say, this layout is very attractive. I especially like the image. You've got quite a talent there. I have one issue with it though...technical difficulty if you will. When I view your page in Internet Explorer, the image shows up where it's supposed to...centered at the top of your journal. However, when I look at it using Safari ( my default broweser { I <3 my Mac :}) the image appears not only centered horizontally, but centered vertically...halfway down the page, behind the column of posts. I'm not sure this is anything you can fix from your user control panel, as I'm a lowly free member and don't have access to such things. However, if you can control the images placement, a simple div valign="top" tag before the image should solve the problem. Or, you can ( ... )

Oh thanks for telling me how it looks like on Safari - my friend uses Mozilla and she says the image in that browser isnt centered, so it seems that only IE uses can fully appreciate my amazing masterpiece..hmpfff. But I'll try coding it again to see how it is..I am just feeling waaay to lazy now, haha.

Thanks for your comments though - they're long, but that's how I like them to be, haha. :)

I feel the same way about Russian (and Spanish). I wish I could wake up one day and magically be able to speak them fluently, but it isn't going to happen. Mind you my Spanish is pretty good, but Russian is a whole other story. I have to always remember the Cyrillic characters one by one as I read, and I have no patience for it.

Maybe some day *shrugs*

Russian and Spanish sounds beautiful, but complex too. Good luck though, but I'm sure it's nothing as mind-boggling as Mandarin, hehe.

Spanish, I think, is one of the easiest languages to pick up.

I actually like speaking mandarin but that's probably because I can't speak the language... heh... However writting in mandarin and cantonese are offlimits for me.
Did you have a reunion dinner? How was it?

Yup I had it last night. We had steamboat - my dad, in his excitement, bought too much food though, so we have enough leftovers to open a small store, haha.. But it was all good. I'm assuming you had one too? :)

Your reply (sorry I accidentally deleted it lol):
A small stall? Wow that's quite alot of leftovers! Yes I did! My mom got some caterers to cater the food. We had the dinner over at my house. It was good =)!

And hey, catered food always pamper my tastebuds. I'll bet it was yummy. :D

LOL! It's alright.
The catered food were from a golf club's restaurant. I've eaten in that restaurant quite alot in the past so I kinda got sick of the food... lol...
