I have my one-week check-up tomorrow and I feel undoubtedly better than I did a month ago. I understand now that things never went well with the implant but I had no idea what to expect so I didn't know how bad it was

Owowow! I hope it heals fine, and that you can maybe try again at a later time. Or are implants a no-go now that you've had this problem?

I hope I can try again later but I don't know if I can, or if he will want to do it and in what kind of time frame. I might have to seek out another oral surgeon, but I will have to wait many months to make sure that the bone has completely healed.
