Today's Scripture Message

Jun 01, 2001 17:29

I am consistently sent Bible verses by my readers and asked to give my interpretation and I must agree that without the proper interpretation the Holy Bible can be twisted to fit anyone's fey sin-peppered agenda and therefore I shall for your spiritual edification make it a regular practice of mine to post my interpretations here in my LiveJournal ( Read more... )

I don't recall that passage. Please post the reference so that I might look it up and respond to it. Amen.

Didn't Jesus chose his loyal friend Simon, and re-name him Peter (Rock) and and say "Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock I shall build my Church"? Paul never knew the living Christ, and was a hated Pharisee and tax collector. He claimed to have met the risen Christ, after His crucifiction, but was not well recieved by the true apostles of Jesus. Your admiration for Paul helps me understand your perspective; Jesus taught love and forgivness for sinners, while Paul was a rigid fanatic.

The false assertion that Peter was the same "rock" which Jesus referred to in that passage has been debunked so thoroughly that I am frankly confused as to why Catholics continue to cling to it.

Please see this page for an explanation of Matthew 16:18. Amen.

Your authoritative commentary is heresy! robby June 5 2001, 23:26:11 UTC
You say, "which proves that Peter was not Jesus Christ's representative which proves Peter was not the first pope as the Romanists are so fond of claiming."

Please read Matthew 16:17-19 again.

Jesus replied, blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter(rock), and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will
be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

The meaning of these words is crystal clear. How can you twist it to mean anything but what is says? Your knowledge and understanding of Christian doctrine in deeply perverted.

The bible can be twisted if the interpretation is wrong. How do I know your not the misinterpreter? I haven't actually gotten to reading the passage an so on because it is late and I cannot think clearly but I just wanted to point out that all interpretations are not God's words but man's. Also, another thing, this my LJ is of course God's LJ. I don't think that is right, it really makes you look like you have a god complex. Maybe something like My LJ which is of course to serve God(through LJ maybe). Just a suggestion.

Thank you for your suggestion but mine has a certain rhythm to it with which I've grown rather comfortable. Amen.

That doesn't sound right. cyberkni June 5 2001, 19:05:29 UTC
Well just because your comfortable with something doesn't make it right. You can get comfortable with almost anything. A drug addict gets comfortable to the IV needle because it is the method of fuffiling some desire of thiers.

"All Christians should conduct themselves in whatever manner necessary to achieve the approval of Jesus Christ's representative on earth."
I feel that one shouldn't need the approval of, "Jesus Christ's representative on earth." It was a made up title so the Saxons would not kill the priests in Rome!

Okies, real little question from me. sugarymalice June 2 2001, 09:23:15 UTC
Question. A little while ago, I heard that in one of the various Books of Christ (I can't recall the name) it stated that those people who did not have 20/20 vision when they move to the alter of God will not be accepted into Heaven because ... they can't see the glory clear enough, or some such thing.

Have you heard of this, and just what do you say about it, considering you, yourself, wear glasses, as well as many others of us?
