I'm so glad this work week is over. It's been a mess the last couple of days. First thing this morning I find out that we didn't get a grant I was expecting to get and I'm praying we're not too far behind in the fiscal goals for the year so far. Won't know until Monday, probably ( Read more... ) -

The Great 2007 Book Challenge
Caving into peer pressure, I would like to join the book challenge, or at least talk about the books I have read this year. But as I search my memory, I realize I haven't completed a single book, or really gotten far into one, at all this year. Things have been entirely too chaotic. A pity. I hope to have something to report soon... -

I stopped in the newspaper office for the first time, really, since I quit in November. Though I trade emails with several of them, I haven't been in that office since I gave notice. Monday is my first appointment with the woman from Hungary and her daughter, a local doctor. I'm being commissioned to write their family memoirs. It's not ultra-glamorous on the surface, but I'm excited about it. It's my first real writing gig that doesn't involve the newspaper anymore. I can't believe I decided to move the week before Thanksgiving, as though the month between Turkey Day and New Years isn't chaotic enough. I had to make sure the place was settled enough for holiday guests anyway, but now I can focus on the smaller details to make it more comfortable, such as getting a bookcase so I don't have nearly every book I ( Read more... ) -

Spent Christmas Eve quietly, exchanging gifts with Himself and later with RashAndy. He wrapped a few presents for his family while we watched "It's a Wonderful Life." Unless it's an absolute emergency, it's completely selfish and thoughtless to force yourself to go to work sick while you're contagious. Not only is the infected person less productive while they're sneezing and coughing all over the common areas where other people have to go, but they spread their filthy contagion to everyone else they work with ( Read more... ) -
