I never thought I'd have kids. Seriously. That was something that just wasn't going to happen. Now I have four. Three girls and a boy. A pubescent girl. A girl who thinks she is just like her big sister, only with better fashion sense. A girl who is still adjusting to being in a family again and trying to figure out just why her birth mother isn't

Noriko fell asleep. I just tucked her in. Eve and I are watching...something that's colorful and rated G.

All of that sounds good. Especially the meat. I'll dig up the extra futon.

I'll be in there in a minute. I'm going to finish feeding Kentarou and put him to bed. Kanya is staying in her room tonight. Might want to warn Eve to be quiet when she goes to bed.

I wonder if we should just let them stay in Noriko's room. She's been sneaking into bed with us every night anyway so a week extra won't be too bad. She's bringing bbq sauce and anything else she can manage to get through customs. Can you believe we've been married 7 years already? Well...in three days anyway.

All right. I'll let Eve know, she's falling asleep on me as we speak.

That might be a good idea. Mm. ...It doesn't feel like seven years.

Kentarou just rolled over to your side of the bed. I almost want to say we might have some time to ourselves but I don't want to jinx anything.

Yuki offered to talk to Noriko a bit. I think it might help her, and she trusts Yuki. How much are you drooling now? The sauce she's bringing is amazing. You'll love it. It's been amazing. I think we have the best and most amazing family around.

I'm glad that you are Sanada have such a good life. I hope Keigo will say yes and that I can have just as happy a marrage

Thank you. We have to work for it (especially with all the kids and animals running around), but it's worth it. He will. And you both will be even happier than you are now.

It sounds wonderful, even with all the hard work. I hope so. I'll let you know how it goes when I do it

A shopping tip for when you happen to be out with Eve...don't look right into the puppy dog eyes. You will cave. Has Atobe succeeded in getting purple into your wardrobe? If not, Eve will and you won't even know it.
It's great. I am so thankful that I met him. I will be waiting. And we will have to have celebratory ice cream or something when he says yes.

The kids call me "mommy" in English. I love it.

That's even more adorable, that they call you 'mommy' in English! Are you guys going to have them all be bilingual?

I want them to understand both languages. It will make things easier for them when we go to visiting overseas.

Would you like for me to talk to Noriko? We do a lot of counseling for adoptions and adopted children. From the way she acts and what you're saying here, it sounds to me like she's scared you guys will go away and she'll be alone again.

Can you talk to her? I've tried to reassure her that we aren't going anywhere, and that she is our daughter and will stay with us. It breaks my heart at night because she won't go to sleep unless one of us is there with her, and even after we go to bed she manages to climb in with us.

Sure, no problem. I can take her out to a bookstore and for some ice cream. She won't even know that I'm trying to figure out what's going on. And yeah, Noriko's clinging really is a sign of fear. It's common in adopted kids.
