Town Meeting [Open]

Jan 22, 2009 21:23

September 5th had arrived. Sitting down in the basement of the Ashwood Heights apartment complex made Ava anxious. Emily had assisted her in setting up all of the chairs they could find - including scooting around the couches so they would all face one wall. The very wall that she leaned against and counted down the time until seven o'clock came ( Read more... )

It didn't take long for the first of the residents to appear. Morgan hesitantly crept down the steps, one hand on the railing and the other clutching her thick sweater together, unsure of what exactly she was getting herself into and wishing quite fervently this 'meeting' had been held in the hall or something. Basements were just plain spooky. and claustrophic

To be honest, she wasn't even sure why she was attending. Some pretty damn scary things happened in this place, this town, much as she tried to pretend it didn't happen and that things didn't really go bump in the night - why should she then deliberately seek it out again? Sometimes wasn't it actually better to be ignorant? Morgan certainly hadn't missed being ignorant before trying to break curfew, after all ( ... )

The basement wasn't having such a bad effect on Emily, but perhaps that was simply because laundry had been a weekly chore for her back when she'd still been living with her family, and the washer and dryer were often kept in the basement when they had one. Yeah it was kinda creepy, but... Well, Ava had picked it, so hopefully that meant it was a little safer than other places. After facing the after-curfew crowd and her own personal teddy-monster, it seemed unlikely anything more scary could be down here ( ... )

Leaving for the meeting, Tito made five or six rounds of his apartment to make sure everything was closed up and locked -- windows, doors, plugs shoved in every drain for good measure. The young werewolf had always been jumpy, but he was even more so after the... thing, whatever it was... had gotten into his apartment (and subsequently possessed his laundry). When he left for the meeting, there wasn't a stray sock or pair of underwear to be found anywhere.

Any help being offered against whatever the heck was going on in this weird town was greatly appreciated.

Tito edged into the basement a bit sheepishly, looking around and feeling relieved that he wasn't the only one there. Basements were scary, after all. He flashed a nervous grin at the people already present, greeted them all with a "hey," and sank into a vacant chair.

He really, really hoped whatever they would talk about in here would keep away any future laundry monsters.

Ava made no move as Tito and Morgan came in. At least these two had been wise, like she predicted they would be. She nodded at each when they looked at her and waited for more people to come.

A few more humans entered and Ava gave them each a nod as well. A rather daring vampire sauntered in and took a seat on a couch, giving Ava a glance that didn't quite have recognition of what she was. She gave him the same nod and nothing more.

She inhaled slowly and hoped the rest would come soon. Waiting much longer would not make her speech any easier.
