It all began as a soft light, then an aching head, followed by a slow realization that there was a familiar bed underneath them. The window near their bed was open and a gentle breeze kept the curtains wafting. Their belongings were organized neatly and all in their places - exactly as they last remembered them

Examining the apartment left her with no clue of who had done this and it only served to rankle her ire more. The lack of scents only made her more edgy.
Hadn't she been about to go down to the meeting and tell all the Ashwood Height residents who'd listen about the nasties? ...she had been so certain that the task was done and yet she couldn't remember anything about it. She had been preparing to go down and then nothing.
Ava snarled and even let out a rumbling growl, giving the apartment one more cursory examination before going outside and questioning the first local she saw. Their answers were less than satisfactory. Just gone on? Ava had snarled back, ( ... )

But it was just his room, the window open to a pleasant breeze. Everything was just as he expected it to be. Even the Gundam model on his shelf was still posed the right way. Maybe this wasn't a hangover... or maybe it was, and somebody had graciously helped him find his way home and into bed in one piece.
Summoning up all the willpower he had, Tito rolled off his bed and onto the floor in an attempt to get moving. It hurt, but it was enough of a jolt into reality to get his mind working.
....Wasn't it really cold the last he'd checked? What was with the spring-like weather?

Maddie ran to the first window and then gawked at the budding tree. When had that happened? It just...wasn't right. The woman was screaming still, but now it almost made sense.
....tinkering and tampering...can't stand their dirty fingers on me!Had they...had someone...done this? Giving up on finishing the glass of water, Maddie pulled on some flip flops and then headed outside, sure to grab a silver fork and her keys, of course. She could take a few goosebumps on her legs, but there was no way she was going to be completely unarmed ( ... )

Tito had just finished brewing up some coffee to try and clear the thick fog from his brain when the knock on the door came. He paused only to drain the rest of the cup he'd been drinking before trotting over to answer it.
Fear is contagious, especially when you can smell it wafting off somebody standing in your doorway, looking like she's about to break into a cold sweat. Unease started to stir in Tito like a gale.
"Uh..." he started intelligently. Now there's a great greeting, Tito. Try again. "...W-what's going on? What's wrong?"

She ruffled her still-not-brushed hair and looked down at her feet. "Or rather, I just woke up and it seems like I've lost months of time. Is...is that something you've noticed, too?"
Maddie lifted her gaze and made herself smile. It wasn't comfortable and she was still more than a little edgy, but she owed the confused man at least that. "I'm Maddie, by the way. Apartment 5A."

When Morgan, the mute girl, finally came outside, Ava watched her with her periphery vision and then perked up as she came closer.
"Do you have a gap in your memory, too?"
Ava stayed on the railing and held Morgan's gaze, well aware that she would have to ask questions that could be answered with a nod or shake of the head.

But this girl was asking the very thing Morgan was asking herself - was there a gap in her memory? The girl asked it as if she, too, had a similar gap; a wave of frustration rolled over her as she realized she couldn't ask any questions in return. Couldn't ask if her last memory was of September, if she didn't remember winter either. Morgan hadn't thought to bring her little scratchpad down with her, and so down here she had no voice to ask questions with.
Ultimately, though, she gave a slow nod of her head, frustration and confusion mingled equally in her expression. Wordlessly, she offered the sticky note she'd found on the community announcement board.

Taking the note, Ava frowned. "If I didn't know better, I'd bite them the next time I got the chance." Sighing, she returned her gaze to Morgan. "Ava, if you didn't know," she nodded in an attempt to gesture at herself. "Can't say I know your name, but I also can't expect you to say it either."
Apparently she was more agitated than she thought. She never rambled like this. "Should we go get your notepad so you can join the conversation?"
At least her rambling could be cut off and directed then. She hated rambling.
