Yeah, the fact they didn't seem to have any grad housing almost tipped the scale for me going to another college, instead. I'm going to be moving twice this summer to go there and it would have been thoughtful of them to have something convenient like apartments. *sigh*
you can email me at adrianilo@yahoo.com I'm in ID- so I don't know all the profs in the other programs, but I know a few people who don't like IPCR. The programs are generally pretty flexible with letting you take classes in all the schools though.
Yeah, I really don't know what possessed me to put IPCR down. I didn't apply to anything like it at any other school. I think I was worried how the International Security concentration would be, since it's only a concentration. I'm crossing my fingers I'll be able to switch.
Grad students don't live on campus. AU doesn't have enough housing to house their undergrads this year, even with a large number of juniors and seniors moving off. From what I hear, they have a deal with a place in Silver Spring for them, and they've had something with Park Bethesda (down Massachusetts Ave) for a while, but you pretty much have to have a car if you're there. I don't know how either of those relates to grad students.
I don't know anything about your situation, but if the cost of housing is a concern, I do know a lot of people who live in Maryland or Virginia rather than in DC itself. This is less of a concern if you have a car, of course, but everyone seems to make it work. Well, I was thinking FSO. Or more like "at the very least this will give me time to study for the exam." But looking at the classes...well, I don't actually believe in peace, and certainly not one without any sort of violence or potential for violence. I think I'd have to stab myself through the ear with my pencil if the classes are half what they sound like.
