I'm not a student at AU anymore, and I only went there for a semester. But.

GWU is going to be a ton closer to the monuments. There are some nice parks around AU, and you'll be able to see the embassies, along with some nice nature :].

When I was there [fall 2007] the AU Repiblicans club was pretty popular. Times have changed, but I think AU has a nook for every belief.

If you're going into medicine, I think GWU is going to be better? They have a hospital, and if I remember correctly, AU used/shared a hospital somewhere in Maryland.

AU has a science department?....I think that says it all.

Go to GWU...maybe. Or, if you're really looking to get into medicine, University of Washington in Seattle. Now that's a school with a science department.

Yeah, I'd love to attend the University of Washington (and I absolutely love Seattle), but I'm stuck on the East coast for now. Thanks.

1. Possibly? I don't know personally but I have a friend who's a double biology/chemistry major at AU right now.

2. That depends on your definition of long. It's about 6 miles from AU to the national mall. Inauguration taught me this. Less monuments, more embassies and such.

3. I'm biased and will obviously say AU. Also cuz I don't think GWU likes to give out a who lot of financial aid etc.

4. Yes.

obviously as an AU alumn, i'm biased, but GWU has had some terrible reviews for their med school recently.

i was a biology major at AU and graduated may 08. I liked the department, the professors and all my fellow students. Sure, it would have been nice if the department had more money, but I think I really got a lot out of the small lecture and lab sizes and close relationships I had with all of my professors. Quite a few of my classmates went on to medical and dental school. So it really depends upon what you want. If you want a huge program, then AU is not the place for you, but I enjoyed the program, I've had no trouble getting a job in biotech in Maryland and New York.
