Shopping went well today. NOT. I get stopped by this guy. Are you american he asks. I say no (do be a smart ass) He is like well you sound it. So I give in. He sits there and drools as I talk. BTW goofiest guy ever. *ALERT* He says my name is ponch (isn't that the name of the other chip?) I say hi ponch, he asks for my name and yes I gave it to him

So stupid. I get that as well. Just the other day I picked my daughter up from a friends house, this guy who was at the birthday party, comes up and says hi i am paul, want my number. WTF, just bc I am american. Oh and yes he mentioned he always wanted to hook up with a yank. MORON, just bc I was born in the states does not make me a yank. If you are going to study american culture get the history right. Yanks are from the NORTH, not all over the US.

I get that a lot too, but people have been pretty polite - usually just looking starstruck and saying, "Ooh, you're from America? That's so cool!" over and over again.
Or they'll ask me to keep talking, so they can just listen to my accent.
I guess Americans kind of do the same thing to Aussies and the English, now that I think about it...
