it's really amazing to me how perfect jack is. after a few hours of napping on the rug he got up on the couch, curled up on my chest an slept on me for an hour, at one point literally resting his face on my face. then he got up, dipped the tips of his paws in my water cup and then drank from it, stretched, flicked his paws and walked away. he's not ( Read more... )

There's nothing wrong with liking Anime. I still stand by the notion that a lot of American cartoons don't known how to match up to the emotional depth and character building that some Anime do (Avatar not withstanding). What makes it bad is the fans. The fandom and their endless shipping wars. Mostly, it's the fan girls and their "Roy needs to be with Ed and no one else because obviously they secretly love each other because they argue all the time!" Yeah....No.

Full Metal has always been one that held fond memories for me. Noa and I used to stay up all night watching it on Adult Swim and talking about it over IM. It's not my ultimate favorite, but there is plenty there to squee about, and this is the type of Anime that is okay to squee over.

Fangirl doesn't have to be a bad thing. If you keep in mind your own sense of pride and dignity and allow others to have their input, you can squeal all you want. It's the ones that go apeshit that you have to worry about.

SERIOUSLY THOUGH WHAT IS WITH ROY AND ED I DON'T GET IT AND IT'S EVERYWHERE IT'S LITERALLY 90% OF ALL THE THINGS IN THIS FANDOM AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY like i could totally understand if there were a whole bunch of pairings that i didn't ship. i just don't understand why it's always that ONE. i agree that american cartoons really don't match the depth of japanese ones nine times out of ten. also, i've noticed that japanese media tends to have a lot more of the stuff i like - namely, tragic deaths, graphic violence and psychological fuckery. i mean, metal gear is japanese, as is silent hill... really the only american thing i love is avatar. but it just feels different when it's the animus for some reason ( ... )
