let me pose a question to all of those who happen to stumble across this entry: why do you believe that you are here? it's not that difficult of a question to grasp, however it is one that no one seems to be able to provide a substantial answer to. why is this? are we to not know this? or are we too blind to see the answer despite it being ( Read more... )

Hm, well I get what you're saying, and I actually agree with it too. Now, as to why *I* think we're here? I couldn't tell you, except to say that maybe we are all here as pieces of a Universe that is trying to understand itself, and when we die, we go back to the Great Mother, and are once again reborn--maybe as the opposite gender, or as a dog, or maybe as a flower I don't know. All I know is that I firmly believe that we are here to help the Universe learn about what it is, exactly. We are hear to learn, and then later on to teach.

And as for mother's day? She's definately getting some pretty flowers--she deserves it.

I get what you're saying there Chris. I don't really know why we're here but the reality is that we are here and we're here to stay as so long as we shall live you know? All I know is that influence is the biggest thing when making a person into who they are... some say that they don't get influenced by anything/anyone but the truth is that one way or another something/someone will touch them in a way that they will never forget... might not be influencial but it is endearing. Yes I will give my mommy pretty flowers and I know you will for your mother too. I bet she's looking down saying my oh my what a great man my son has become.

(Okay, ignore the first one, I omitted a few words on accident)

The reason why it took me so long to formulate a response is because I wanted to make sure I sounded coherent.

To me, I don't think I have a reason for living, but I like it that way. It just seems that life would be so hollow and meaningless if we were only placed on Earth just so we could reproduce and/or carry out our human existence until we die. If people make the conscious choice to reproduce, then so be it. Same answer applies for those who make the conscious choice to not reproduce.

I also don't think that having more "toys" than the next person has anything to do with winning the game of life. It's like that Calvin and Hobbes comic where the question, "What would you choose: money or happiness?" was posed ( ... )

while i agree, your response was indeed long winded, it was very worthwhile to me to read. i appreciate the ammount of thought that you put into articulating a very appropriate response touching on all the subjects that i mentioned. however, i posed that question not for any one of us to answer for the rest of us, rather for each of us to answer on our own. a sort of self reflection as to why you believe you have been put on this world, and up until now, i haven't really gotten a truly definitive answer. thank you jim for that little bit of insight of yourself
