Manny Delcarmen to the Rockies?? B-b-b-but he's from here! He's a hometown boy! How could you, this is so mean, unreasonably cruel, being a jerk for too little in return, etc etc.

More to the point,

I just got jossed by the goddamn Red Sox.

Ugh.

What I'm taking away from this entry is that this is the first time I've seen "jossed" used as a verb, and I know what you're talking about!

(I'm sorry about Manny Delcarmen. I felt similarly betrayed when Curtis Granderson was traded, even if he's not from the D originally.)

Ha ha, it's a word that's been around... I don't even watch any Whedon-shows. :P

Don't even get me started on how I reacted when they traded Curtis... and it's not like I'd be that upset about MDC normally, even with all the local connections, but I was just getting into the swing of this fic and I really wanted it to be the current team, because if I started cherry-picking players it was just going to get crazy.

Maybe I should do that anyways.

BAH.

Ffff getting fictionally screwed over by a trade FTL.

It just hadn't happened to me in the middle of a fic, where it mattered, in ages. I'm not used to this! Probably because the last time I spent a really long time on a fic, it was basically Pudge Rodriguez's Entire Past, so I wasn't gonna get hit with unexpected changes. Sigh.

I just ignore reality in favor of my pleasant fictional universe. This has worked for me in the past, and I figure there is no harm in continuing to do so.

Yeah, but I really wanted to keep this one to the current roster, because if I just started cherry-picking whichever Sox I wanted in it, it was going to get out of hand pretty quickly. 'Though I might just end up doing that now, I don't know. Blah blah blah fic woe.

MDC was my goddamn narrator, that's the killer bit.

In that case, why don't you just go with the trade never happened? You could set it a few weeks back, for example, though I don't know if that's feasible, or you could even say, 'In this magical world, the Sox don't trade MDC.' I don't know who (if anyone) they got for him, but you could also write with the assumption that player is still on the Rockies.

Woops! Sorry, RP journal. You saw nothing.

The whole thing's an AU anyways. I dunno. I can probably switch it to someone else and maybe make the whole thing marginally more likely to be read anyways. It was just like... dammit, Red Sox, did you have to do that just now?
