Dealing with "girl stuff" in Spain.

Jan 07, 2011 17:41

Hi all...New here. I am getting ready to spend this coming semester in Spain and I have a few questions for the female-bodied people of this community that have lived/studied in Spain for an extended period of time...no pun intended, heh.

Help? )

I had trouble even finding tampons with applicators in Spain! Maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

Anyway, you really shouldn't flush tampons or applicators anywhere. Even in the US it causes more problems than most people are aware of. Depending on the age of your building, and its plumbing system, it could be a real problem. Wrap well in toilet paper and put in the bin.

you can get little wax paper - type bags to put them in so you don't have to use a lot of TP to wrap them in.

Wrap them up in toilet paper... My roommate and I had our own bathroom while I was there so it wasn't so awkward. Plus my host mom wasn't very religious... I wouldn't say anything to your host mom unless she mentions something about it to you. I'm sure if you wrap them well it will be fine.
In terms of buying tampons I bought them at larger stores like El corte ingles. I bought some at a small farmacy once and they were really small and awkward. Oh and expensive too.
