*United Nations meetings were something the Republic of Texas both hated and enjoyed. He had to get dressed up, go to a boring meeting where no one really gave a damn about him because he was a small, power country of limited power. But then again, he got away from his wife and cities for a while. It was a trade off ( ... )

[New York had his back turned to Texas' seat when it had been empty, striking up a conversation with Canada, who was sitting right behind him. Apparently this meeting had called for those of the same continent to sit in the same section, though he hadn't realized - at the moment - who that meant he would sit by.]

[That was, until he turned and saw Texas - next to him - out of the corner of his eye.]

What-

[In an instant, a wave of anger and hurt washed over him. He hadn't really seen Texas too much since the other left him, and would have...liked keeping it that way. What was the possibility that he would sit right next to Texas, anyway?]

No fucking way.

*Texas had been expecting a reaction like that, but it still managed to catch him off guard. His eyes moved, giving New York a quick glance. It only took that half second of seeing the other to make the republic feel the feelings of guilt intensify.*

*He chose to not answer. His expression went stony, his eyes looking straight ahead.*

[New York chose to interpret that as being ignored, not really surprised but still very angry about it. He growled, and whipped around to Canada again.]

Yo, Canada, switch seats with me.

[When the northern country declined - even after New York tried negotiating - the state spun back around in his seat and spared the other another glare. He even slouched, putting his arms on the best, folding them, and then putting his head down. His eyes scanned around the room for a moment and he grumbled a bit to himself.]
