Benefit Concert Update!

Apr 13, 2009 16:50

I've received questions from many of you about the concert and the weekend, so I thought I'd put them all here so everyone can see. :)

AIRPORT
* The Lansing airport is tiny - there are literally 9 gates there. Cabs aren't lined up outside of baggage claim like they are in bigger cities. If you're flying into Lansing and don't already have someone picking you up, I'd suggest calling a taxi company ahead of time to schedule a pick-up.

Here are a couple cap companies:

Shaggin' Waggon - No I'm not kidding about the name! lol
Spartan Cab/Yellow Cab

HOTEL
* If you haven't made your reservations for the Sheraton yet, please do so soon - the room block cut-off date is Wednesday, April 29! We're going to have a great time at the Lansing Sheraton all weekend, so you should join us! For reservations call: (517) 323-7100 and mention the block for the discount - rooms are $89/night. Double rooms were filled-up, but they've added a few more to our block!

* Speaking of, I think some of us were planning on hanging out at the hotel bar on Friday night. I'll have to leave for an airport pick-up later on, but then I'll be back. We could maybe see who would be interested in meeting for dinner that night, too.

AREA DINING
* The Sheraton has a restaurant on-site called Christie's Bistro, but I prefer going there for lunch. The dinner menu is kind of pricey.

There is a McDonalds and a Blimpie's subs within walking distance (under 1/2 a mile), and right across the street is the R Club. They have great food and live entertainment on Friday nights.

The Lansing Mall is about a mile and a half away from the hotel, and it has many restaurants inside and nearby.

CARPOOLING TO THE SHOW
* If you're staying at the Sheraton and will have a car, I know some people would appreciate a ride over to the venue and back. Let me know if you've got any room! Also, let me know if you need a ride and I'll try to hook you up with someone.

VOLUNTEERING
* Some of you have already let me know you'd like to help out, and I will need people in various areas. We'll make it work so that you don't miss any of the show! Please let me know which area you'd be willing to help out in.

  • Ticket Takers - Rachel and Shannen are already signed up, and I'd like 1 or 2 more people for the other set of doors and to help people find their seats.
  • At the Door Ticket Sales - 2 people needed
  • Cookie Makers - So far I have Caryn, and I'd like to get a few more
  • Silent Auction - I'd like a couple people to keep their eye on the Silent Auction, especially during the intermission
  • CD Sales/Organization - Steve, Seth and May will all be selling CDs and then signing after the show. I'll need someone to get the CDs out immediately after Steve is done performing and get the tables set up for autographing and sales. Seth and May will have their own table, as will Steve. I'll sit with Steve once he's ready to come out and sign, but I'll need someone to sell until we get there.

Anyone willing to help out will be much appreciated! :)

DRESS CODE
* The concert has no dress code. Wear whatever makes you feel good and comfortable! I'll probably wear a nice top and either jeans or black pants.

PHOTOGRAPHY
* Photography is welcome in the theater.

I'd like to get pictures of everything! Melissa has volunteered to walk around and take pictures, and Sam and Ravyn are going to take pictures during the show. Anyone else who takes pics, I hope you'll share with me.

I can't wait to see you all!!

Did I miss anything?
