Oh, and I meant to comment on how glad I was that you included that glimpse of old Hermione with respect to the House-elves. I was waiting for that, and you did it perfectly, bravo. :)
Initially I was angry at Harry for thinking that his wife is some delicate flower not to be touched, especially when she's now taken up dueling. But as per usual Harry, there's always some excuse (as to why he can't think such things, let alone voice them), and in this situation/time period I feel you're absolutely right in making that the excuse. Plus, the line you had about him absolutely refusing to go further without the certainty that she returned the feeling made it much better. More Harry, and less early 19th century English gentleman. :)
And my, oh my, have you been popping out these chapters spectacularly fast. I did notice a tiny error at the beginning, when Hermione mentions her mother trying to calm her father.
