Forgiveness isn't something you earn.  For most people, that's easier said than meant. 
Yet he forgave me today.  Without first reminding me of all my wrongs, or throwing it in my face, or lording it over my head.  He just... forgave me.  Told me to forgive myself.  We'll see about that.

Self-respect is something you earn.
