a) Pretty much the same reason I friended Ella. Plus, I think we all have a lot in common besides writing and it's a good way to keep in touch.

d) everything is clearly too xx-rated to mention. Kidding. One of my favorite memories is in San Diego when we went to the beach, ate at Sushi Deli and then went to the movies. It was really fun.

The short answer is because I needed money for school and I wanted to travel. The more I've thought about this question over the last few years, the more I've had to say on the topic, but I don't think you're looking for that kind of a robust answer.
