The best music evokes emotions, it gives you that rush of relating, an indefinable feeling of identifying. It makes you soar, it makes you think, it makes you human. The only bands that strike any real emotion with me any more are...

mewithoutYou (hands down)
American Nightmare
Converge
Poison the Well
Explosions in the Sky

When it comes to specific songs, I can get moved hardcore by Shiny Toy Guns, Metric, and a few others...but as a whole, for a band, not many do it for me any more.
