I've had enough of fast food

Yes, that's right. I've had my fill. For the past few months at my job I've been going out with some coworkers on my team (and some not on the team.) These guys are pretty much burger guys, so it's Arctic Circle, Five Guys, Carl's Jr. with some Mexican and sometimes Subway thrown in. With the worst being the really cheap food at Sam's Club and ( Read more... )

You could always try packing a lunch some days as well. ^^ That generally helps one eat a little better.

That or you could pack some helium for a light snack. ;)

yeah, this is the first place I've worked where I've gone out consistently. Every other place I took my lunch.

Good! The 1st step for a healthy life is healthy eating habits.

I am glad to see someone who is also sick of fast food ( though I haven't eaten much at all since High School ) I am at the point now that I almost see myself as a food snob. I will still eat chocolate almost everyday, but I see no point in eating fast food. Subway is o.k. in an emergency, but shouldn't be relied on. And it isn't just all the horrible stuff that I hear about unhealthy food, but I get sick and feel terrible after I eat certain foods. So, I've reached the point that I will risk being anti social to keep myself healthy. I am also trying out a few gyms for free and am considering buying a pass- It is a little pricey, but if I use it it will be worth it. I'd like to have the same energy I had 9 years ago when I was a more physically active college student.

Oh, I always pack Karl's lunches and he has taken them in to fast food joints to eat with co-workers.... It is awkward, but it will taste better and not leave you feeling gross all afternoon.

Compared to some of the places we've eaten, Subway is healthy.:P

Ya, subway is really fine. Just don't order any of the chips, sodas, or cookies. :)
I was just reminded of a family I know who have never even used their oven. They really do eat out for every meal. I kinda feel like they are missing out on a lot, plus they have no idea what they are eating. ( I hope that makes sense ).
I'll bet they could pay our rent and groceries twice with what they spend every month at restaurants.

I thought Subway was fine until I found out their bread is full of high fructose corn syrup and they use ammonium sulfate (known for its use as a plant fertilizer) to make some of the "whole grain" breads look brown- there's really very little whole wheat in them. That grossed me out enough that I've been avoiding it. Lately I've been making a bunch of dried beans that I can keep in the fridge for the week and eat for lunches. I just warm them up in the microwave, add some grated cheese and avocado, and it's delicious. I'm lucky to live in an area with lots of cafes that have healthy options, too, but making my own lunch saves a lot of money.

Yeah, I've only been eating out with my coworkers for a few months, but my coworkers (in their mid-30s) have been eating out for years. Don't know how they can do it for so long.
