In Reserve
McGee walked into Abby’s lab to find her running evidence.
“Timmy!” she cried, when she spotted him, and immediately he felt better.
With no active cases, the team had been going over cold cases, but they hadn’t been able to turn up any new leads. So, in addition to the pulled muscle from catching the records box Tony had dropped on him, he was pretty disappointed by their lack of success.
And it was only two in the afternoon, too early to give up and try again tomorrow. McGee decided to take a break while Gibbs went for more coffee, and ended up at the lab without really knowing he was doing it.
Seeing Abby always did something wonderful for his spirits. No matter how tired, or sore, or frustrated he was, just being in the same room with her could make anything a little better.
“You okay, McGee?” she asked.
He managed a smile. “Think you could spare me a hug?”
“Of course,” Abby replied, pulling him close and resting her head on his shoulder. “I always keep a few in reserve just for you.”
McGee held on tight.
“Feel better?” Abby asked.
He nodded against her shoulder. “Much.”
