A Tiny Fragment
Abby held the specimen jar up to the light. She tilted it one way, then the other.
The chip inside was dark, a little shiny in places but not reflective, broken cleanly on the edges, the same color all the way through. She shook the jar, gently, and it gave a soft clink.
Interesting.
“Do you know what that is, my dear?” asked Ducky.
Abby shook her head. “No idea,” she admitted.
Sometimes, a case was solved easily, but sometimes, finding a murderer could all hang on identifying a tiny fragment like this one.
“But I’m going to find out.”
