When he was 15 the Nazis invaded Czechoslovakia. His parents saw what was happening and saved his life by sending him on the Kindertransport to Britain. He didn't know any English ( Read more... )

Thanks Nicky. Always feels like the end of an era when a generation passes on.

Yes. My last grandparent died last year and I suddenly realised how old my parents are... It was a bit scary.

My sympathy. Parents are like bedrock. They don't get old. They are just there. Also shakes my belief in immortality. I liked it when death was an obscure concept. Made life much simpler

I am pleased I came across this post Ami.

My family and I always had fond memories of Uncle Fredi and his death this year greatly saddened me.

He was a surivivor who did fight for freedom and did live in that freedom that he treasured with Auntie Moira and my grandparents.

Good wishes to you and your family Ami

he has not been forgotten

Hi Cousin
Thanks for the good wishes.

So how are you? Unless I have a lousy memory, I dont think we have ever met. Although If my memory of the family tree is correct I have met Vicky (your sister?).

Lets see. I currently live in Scotland, I do some dreadfully boring stuff with computers and have a minor desire to attempt world conquest. Okay, maybe not the last bit ;-).

Other than that, I recently got married to my better half, and am currently trying to decide where to go on holiday. The horrors of life.

Ami
