Things at Home: 3 humans, 0 cats. We lost our Nermal a few days before Thanksgiving. Very sad, but not a surprise at nineteen-and-a-half.
She’s been moving slowly since she went blind last year, but at the end of November, she started getting tired even just walking across the living room. Then, she stopped eating and we knew it was her time. She was asleep in her basket and just didn’t get up. She’s buried in the flower bed next to her brother and sisters.
It’s strange having no cats in the house, after having at least one for 30 years. And especially after we’d gotten used to checking on our little blind geriatric kitten. Over Thanksgiving we took down the cardboard we’d put up for Nermal’s safety (she kept getting into small spaces and not being able to get out). Mom put away her basket, her food & water bowls, and the litter box, and it’s so strange having those places be empty.
I’m sure there will be other cats, like there always have been, but it’s still oddly quiet around here. I’ve asked, but apparently, I’m not getting a kitten for Christmas.
On the people front, Little Brother and Brother-in-Law came to our house for Thanksgiving this year. Instead of a roast turkey, Mom made turkey pot pie and it was a big hit. And easier to get all the other dishes into the oven with it. A nice, quiet holiday was had by all.
Things at Work: Still the same, lol. One minor bit of progress - in all the chaos our supervisor has been causing ‘just asking questions’, I managed to get together with people from the other two departments that are the other ends of our process and it only took us a few minutes to get things straightened out, when we all knew what we were talking about. We need to get a computer permission for us admins (very doable at our company) and we’re all set. Hopefully.
