“Are you really really old, Grandducky?” asked Victoria, when he picked her up from pre-school.

He chuckled. “Yes, I suppose I am. Why do you ask?”

“A girl in my class says her big brother doesn’t believe in Santa Clause. And he says that you can’t believe in Santa when you’re old. Is that true?”

“Certainly not,” said Ducky. “Belief is having faith in something unknown, and while it’s true that older people often know more, some things are still a mystery.”

“Like Santa?”

“Precisely.”

Victoria paused, thinking, then smiled. “I still believe in Santa.”

Ducky smiled. “As do I.”
