Fatherhood
“It was for his own good,” spat Lieutenant Sager, struggling against his handcuffs. “He’s a weakling, but I’ve always loved him, in spite of it.”
Gibbs looked over at Sager’s eight-year-old son, covered in mud and scratches, huddled in Ziva’s windbreaker, leaning against an equally-muddy Tony, who was stubbornly refusing McGee’s jacket.
“He’s a child,” Gibbs growled. “You love them because.”
Leaving Sager with Ziva, he marched over to the group, leaning down to the boy’s level. “Your grandma’s gonna meet us at our office,” he said gently, then snapped, “DiNozzo, take McGee’s coat.”
Tony smiled, understanding completely. “Yes, boss.”
