Katrina Recollections: Who I Am.

It's amazing how one song can take you back. I've got a few that do that to me.

I <3 this post. And I love Marc Broussard (he was the artist of the week on my feauxcajun blog last week). That song has always really struck a chord with me. Home is what you make of it--it's why I live in Louisiana for 6 years and loved pretty much every moment of it, but still was drawn to come back to Missouri eventually, where I could be around old friends and family.

I made a mix CD in 2009 (I'm so old school) of Louisiana musicians for some Missouri friends, and without trying, I finished that CD & realized that 4 of the songs on the disc had "home" in the title (Marc Broussard's being one, as well as "Always Almost Home" by Jaryd Lane)...I think I knew by that point I was getting really homesick for Missouri, so it showed in the music I was really digging at the moment I made that CD.

Don't forget the karaoke, the weird Leadville-ians, the peeps riding in the back of the truck even though it was below zero, beer in sippy-bowls (what the hell is a sippy-BOWL?!?!), and so much more. Excited to have you back. Let's listen to Home. :)

I love this post...I miss everyone here and their writing, because it's so individual...and you can tell who it is by their writing and this has your signature all over it, it's beautiful.

That song always makes me cry.
