I went into the movie not actually knowing anything about the plot.heylittleriverJanuary 8 2013, 15:24:51 UTC
My one thing with Cosette was: did she even do anything? Or was she just the pretty blonde prize to be won? (Though Eponine was dying for the unrequited love. I dug the pickpocketing. *g*)
(My other thing, in general: sooooo. The rich kid slumming it gets to live while all the others die and then he goes back to his rich grandfather with his pretty girlfriend? REALLY?)

Haha. Yeah, some of the relationship events were a little questionable. Like Marius and Cosette are like "Oh my fucking God, I've only seen you once, but I'm totally in love with you, let's get married," and then they do, and really, they probably should have spent a few weeks living together so that Cosette can realise Marius leaves the toilet seat up, and Marius figures out that behind those pretty blonde curls, Cosette has a giant mole or something. Like Romeo and Juliet's two day romance, except without the dramatic suicides. Whatever. I think I would have liked the movie more if it was about the student rebels that did die, and not just the one that whined a lot (I don't mind Marius that much, but it's fun to mock him). If this was my story, it would have been "Eponine is awesome and joins the battle for a reason that doesn't involve a man, and continues to be awesome and doesn't die," but I guess there's a reason people don't hire me to write things. And yeah, "Marius goes back to an affluent lifestyle because he's just that

because the constant tight shots on Hugh Jackman's falsetto (I know it wasn't a falsetto, but I like to think it was) made me kind of zone out. What worked well in a musical doesn't work quite as well for a movie.
HA. Yeah. Though I figured out why they had to sing the whole movie though: if they hadn't, they would've had to have spoken French.

And this. Admittedly, I was wondering why, if Eponine had to crush on someone male, why wasn't it rebel leader guy.
