:) I'm feeling better about it. I think it initial shock that the game was over was hard to take. But you know, Silver is not bad and I think we gained a lot of respect from outside the US.
Icons will be coming your way. What would you like? :)
Yeah, I know what you mean. Even though Canada won, I was in serious Olympics withdrawal last night, hehe. It's so crazy not to have them anymore, because it seems like they've been going on FOREVER now! ;)
And icons! Well! First and foremost, I'm a sucker for icons with my username on them, and I only have one right now since I changed to amidala_thrace, so username icons would be lovely. Preferably Kara or Kara/Lee. ;) Also (and gaaaaah, I feel like I'm tooting my own horn here, but), I wouldn't say no to some Insanity Underrated-themed icons. Hee.
That probably gives you more than enough to work with, heh, but let me know if you'd like caps or whatever. :) And THANK YOU! :D
(And because I am a perv shallow, I cannot stop staring at Lee's nipple in your icon. Mmmm.)
You guys definitely gave us a scare though, haha. After the Parise goal Canada Hockey Place was absolutely SILENT. Canadian commentator said we were "stunned" and I think that's an accurate assessment, despite the fact that I did dispute it a little on Twitter. ;) But somehow, somehow, they pulled it together, which is an extremely difficult thing to do when there's a goal scored like that in the last few seconds. Yikes.
i was stunned by that tying goal...even with the extra man, i wasn't holding out much hope, so just being in overtime was incredible. miller was so great that it was painful to see him slump over when crosby scored :(
it was so hard to root against Canada because of what the sport means (if it hadn't been the US, i'd have been jumping up and down in glee now). i'm not traditionally an NHL fan, but i think this might get me to catch a few more Devils games when i can.
I was kind of shocked at the tying goal, but on the other hand, I haven't watched thirteen years' worth of hockey for nothing, and I've seen that happen over and over and over where one team thinks it has things in the bag, only to be proven horribly wrong. So as crappy as it was, part of me was kinda like "... Yeah, I thought that might happen." Heh. BUT. It was just setting it up for an even more dramatic finish, so that rocked!!!!
Yeah, it's so hard for me to describe what hockey means to us ... it's like - our collective religion, the one thing that equalizes us and binds us together and unites us and makes us stand up all at once and cheer. I'm hoping, though, that the visibility of US hockey at these games will maybe further the sport in that country, to more of an extent than it has been, and make people start paying attention! Hockey is awesome, and the world deserves to know that. :D
Thank FUCK. Hehehe. My friend and I were basically the same as you, Liz. And you're absolutely right that it easily could have gone the other way. Ryan Miller was fucking amazing.
I'm so proud a hometown boy from here was the one to score the winning goal - YAY, CROSBY! ♥
OH GOSH YES. SIGH. OF. RELIEF. That seems to just be my way of reacting to overtimes, LOL. I vote Ryan Miller be named the MVP of the tournament even though Canada won. He deserves it.
Yeah, usually I really hate Crosby when he plays for Pittsburgh, but right at the start of the game I said to Andrew, "I'm burying the hatchet, this is an emergency!" Haha. Hatchet will definitely be unburied when the NHL season starts again, though. ;D
That seems to be the pattern on the old f-list tonight! :D Good to know I'm not alone, hehehe. ;) As soon as the national anthem started to play I just LOST IT. That was UNREAL! ♥ ♥ ♥
