I feel like I need to start off my saying that I know Andy loves the kids and would lay down his life for them in a second. Honestly he's always so caught up in his own head that he just doesn't think, plan, think about how others would/will feel from his actions or lack thereof. Seriously, pickle juice? That is a total head-up-the-a** move.

Did Andy have everything much more together years ago? It seems like he was at the top of his game professionally, and you don't get there by dunking important people's important stuff in pickle juice. I'm sorry for the kids that it's such a challenge, but you and Jon are absolutely doing the right thing by cleaning up after clueless dad.

I'm speaking from experience, as a kid of divorced parents, including a dad who was/is unreliable and a stepdad who often cleaned up the mess. FWIW, as an adult, I have a far better relationship with my stepdad.

Another friend posted about her LJ, over on FB and I decided to pop in over here. I haven't been here in ages.

I am so sorry that I have missed so much in your life in the past year or so. I've been skimming along with everyone and get the general idea of what's going on... I mean, I knew you were engaged, but little else. I am so glad that things are better for you with J, and my heart goes out to you in co-parenting with A.
