You may not understand now, but someday you will, Delaine. Just having a boyfriend or girlfriend is not all about buying someone gifts and expensive things. Sometimes it is nice to buy or receive gifts, but it is not necessary. The real point in having a significant other is to be with someone you can unconditionally love and who will love you back for the remainder of your life. It is comforting to know that someone will love you always and that whenever you really need someone, they will always be there for you.

The whole idea of paying for someones dinner or gifts is just a nice thing to do for one another. So, don't say you do not believe that you will ever have a significant other, I am sure that one day you will find your someone special.

Sometimes, you just need to trust people. You are right, though, if they do disappear it does hurt a lot. But at the same time, if you choose not to trust a person, and never tell them how you feel, then it hurts just as much. *pauses* I know that for a fact.

Loving someone means trusting them with your whole heart, regardless of the consequences. It can be dangerous, but, it is not worth shutting people out because you are scared of being hurt.
