Today, I did my civic duty and showed up for jury duty. My reporting time was 12.30. When I arrived at the courthouse, there was a line to get into the building, and then a line to check-in. I just found out from my dad that today was jury selection for a hugely publicized murder trial in which a local physician is accused of having a colleague killed.

*whew*

I am so lucky. I'm bad about reading local news so I know very little about this case. Fortunately, I'm also opposed to the death penalty. I imagine that would have gotten me excused.

The last time I was called in, I ended up sitting on a five day medical malpractice case. It was fasinating and my fellow jurors were all smart people. However, it's not an experience I want to repeat anytime soon.
