It's talking to me

My new yellow linen wants to be a veil.

It told me so.

It's a lovely, rich shade of saffron.

It needs to be a veil.

No lowly apron for you, my pretty. If you want to be a veil, then a veil you shall be.

I think it's time for bed.

The question is...how heavy is the linen? I've always heard that proper veil material should be light, and you should be able to pull it through your thumb and forfinger (making a quarter sized hole).

That worries me, too. It is a bit heavier than I normally use for a veil. I think that, even after I wash it, it should have some good body to it so it will hang nicely.

After I wash it, I'll try your trick. I've never heard of that before. 8)

If that doesn't work, I might use it as lining for a late period coat to go with my late period garb. I think I have enough dark orange wool flannel for the outer layer.

*happy sigh* I love Medieval color sense.

I heard about it awhile from a costumer (I forget who it was now) that gave me some tips when I was first starting out. :o) She said that unless otherwise specified, a veil is always supposed to be a thin, filmy material.
