Does anyone know how long cake batter can stay in the fridge before it goes bad?

Goes bad? Well, that would be the amount of time you were willing to risk letting the raw eggs be in the fridge. But I'd say certainly over night.

The real question is, how long can cake batter sit around in the fridge before it isn't worth baking anymore. My grandmother told me ages ago that if you let the batter sit around long enough all the chemical reactions needed for the cake to rise will exhaust themselves before the baking, and you'll have a sad cake.

Probably better just to start over.

Rats. I guess that rules out eating the batter to cut my losses.
