Ok well having lost 12kg of which I'm very pleased about but still needing to lose a lot more to get me to the right weight for my height I've decided that exercise is to be the next challenge added to the mix.
I know that I don't have a lot of money to spend but I'm going to give in and spend some of it trying to get fitter which again should help ( Read more... )

Good for you! I hope this will be a great success for you. The suggestions that come to my mind are about using LJ to help you. You could log your exercise achievements here, as I do mine: I find it a real help especially since I started to restrict my LJ logging on by whether or not I'd done the bluddy exercises. You could also consider looking at nerdhealth which is a small, supportive comm on which people often discuss exercise.

I will be logging what I manage to do here. I'm sure it'll bore most people but at least I'll be able to see what's going on.
I'm very torn as t what to go for. I look able bodied but know I can't do all the things I a remember doing and b possibly things that a gym instructor or person running a class might want me to do yet I'm also not sure where I'd fit in within a disabled sports group not being a wheelchair user etc...

It doesn't matter whether your posts interest people or not: it's your blog. Me, I'm likely to find this topic interesting.

In my opinion it would be worth trying a class for disabled people. Whoever is running it should be aware that disability is diverse - even we who use wheelchairs are very different from one another. So if the instructor knows anything at all about per job, phe should discuss the specifics of what kinds of exercise are likely to meet your requirements. In fact, since your health has changed recently, perhaps you might consider a few one-on-one sessions with a personal trainer to familiarise yourself with the options. I'm not sure about the cost of personal trainers but a few sessions might be a good investment.
