Windsprint update

Oct 28, 2008 19:23

This really ought to be a long post, given how long it's been. That said...

I've been able to start working on the Windsprint again. As you can see, the basic bits are all in place. I still have to finish the foils - the rudder and off-center board, and create the final mast, boom and yard, but it's good enough to be in front of the house for Halloween.

There will be a wooden box, stuffed full of chocolate coins and bouncy balls in the forepeak, and the three of us will be pirate regalia.

Much fun is expected.

I'll be able to paint it soon as well. The interior will be painted a light bamboo hue with toasted bamboo trim, and the exterior will be teal

I'm taking the day after elections off ("Hang over day"), so I hope to be able to build the new spars then. The wood in question will be cheap - about 6 dollars for the yard and spar, perhaps 18 for the mast. The current ones feel much too likely to break in any type of wind.
