You don't remember when we first went down there, do you?

You know, the stairs. Those stairs. You decided to follow The Woman down there one morning. She was doing laundry or something. I thought we were playing school in your bedroom using the wallpaper as a blackboard and one of The Man's fancy pens as chalk. I was teaching you how to draw ( Read more... )

Takes me right back to childhood, this. It actually reminded me of looking up at our balcony doors and seeing a bit of grey fuzz sticking out of the lining. Of course, it was only a bit of insulation, but I was convinced it was a caterpillar. I just knew if I stared at it long enough, it would move.

There is something magical about the way we see the world as children, that we never seem to be able to get back. A friend of mine once said "I wish I'd known that we were going ot lose our imagination. I'd have played with mine more."

LOL -- I still do that sometimes, believe it or not. If I see a spot on the floor, I'll fixate on it, thinking that if it moves, then, aha, it must be a bug! Then the child inside me is disappointed when the spot is really just a spot.

Playing with my little nieces and nephews is an utter joy. I'm the only adult they'll ask to play. I get looks from the other adults, but I don't care!

Good job. I loved the courageness and the playfulness represented in this post. Yet, there's a hint of something darker. I wonder, is it in my imagination?

Thank you!

As for the something darker...hmm, I don't know. Maybe there really are monsters at the bottom of the stairs!

I used to play luge on the stairs! Winter Olympics!

I was too afraid of skidding into the wall at the bottom of our stairs to play luge. At times, though, I'd pretend the living room was an ice skating rink and I'd twirl around so fast that I'd make myself seriously dizzy :D
