This is probably going to sound sort of stupid, but if I could save anything (assuming my pets would make it out of the house because of course, they are what I would think of first) would be my heart necklace and my pink stuffed animal bunny. My boyfriend gave me both of them and I feel completely lost without them.
If my dorm burned, I would try to save my journals and photos and some of the things I've made and my friends have made for me. My blanket, which was my first big (and nice) crochet project and some jewelry my friends made come to mind immediately. If my house house burned (assuming the aforementioned things and my three beautiful kitties were safe), my brother, siiter and I each have a box of keepsakes that I'd like to save. It has stuff like newspapers from the day we were born, school papers and drawings and special clothes. There's also a clock and dry sink that my late grandfather made, but I'm not sure how practical that would be to save. The dry sink is a heavy piece of (wooden) furniture! I have a lot of books that I love in each place, but none are first editions or anything, and so are technically replaceable. Most of my stuff, apart from the computer, doesn't really have much commercial value.
That's a really good answer. I wish I had some sort of keepsake box like that. My parents were really into taking pictures, but not much else. And most of the pictures aren't even mine and most are backed up on a disk of somesort.
Maybe it's morbid, but I actually think about what I would save a lot. And my mom is very much a pack rat (as am I), so the boxes are an extension of that. They are really fun to go through and remember stuff.
it's not morbid. I think of it a lot too... People think I'm kind of morbid though because I spend a lot of time in cemetaries :/ My mom has photo albums that I like to go through, but they're not ours. And she has them all kept in one place. And like I said, most were also scanned onto a computer and are backed up on a disk and are sitting right next to the computer... so it would kind of be a reflex to just take them if the house caught on fire or something.
2 years give or take. I once went on a star gaze weekend with my dad in georgia mountains. They had a zone without any lights. There were a ton of really interesting telescopes and they even had a prototype for a new stand with a new range of motion. It was very interesting to say the least.
Well, I myself would savesome of my old photos (taken by me on holidays abroad when I was around 8-10 I think), my old alarm clock (this may seem odd but its a huge thing make by my Dad when he was young from parts he bought, its very precious to me actually now I think about it...)and possibly a few books which have lots of memories. These would certainly include The Lord of The Rings which I think was printed in 1977ish as well as my dads old Just William books. I don't set much store on monitary value but I'd feel incomplete if i had to live without these things...

I'd have been disappointed if you said something like "my last five years of tax records' :)

Oh and my bird Mishka. :D

1 computer tower,
2 crossbow,
3 best clothes,
4 telescope.
It would take me at least three trips, but they would be worth the risk.
