I did art! A few.

I tried something new with those, for shading, wise. A technique outlined in quick and simple tutorial.

What I gathered from this is basically, the base colour layer you create IS your dark layer, and your lighting is painted in with... er... light!

versus this third piece:

..Which is done the 'usual' way. Base colours and then paint in the shadows (and add highlights where applicable of course.)

With the first two it was interesting to work 'backwards' as it were, and have this lighting... 'pop' a bit more than usual while playing with colour choices...
As opposed to painting with shadows and finding the form that way... It's a different line of thought at work, especially when I've gotten so used to working with shadows.
And then, of course, the third option;

Which is different than the other two of course! All these pieces began the same way, but were rendered differently. (obviously)
Building the colours slowly and more mixing here, versus the cell-style look the majority of my work now has. It's messier, but obviously has it's place.

In my last post (the collection of what I'm working on) that large cropping in the center has this employed, and will for the entire background. I found some nice watercolour-esque brushes that blend well for this type of rendering and how my hand moves. It's been a happy marriage!

Still, I need ot make more bold colour choices... but there will be time for that.

Anyway, I hadn't typed thought process in a while. I just felt like sharing.
Cheers folks!
