I'm chuckling. This is the whole aim of that women's studies class for which I was asking you for articles. I'm not sure who has learned more from that class: me or the students.

We must find a way to honor difference without clinging to it, for one. I say this as a woman who has experienced patriarchy inside and out: we must also let go of identities constructed out of victimization. There's a difference between empowering ourselves through each other because we can relate to and heal one another and identifying with each other because of what THEY did. So long as there is a THEY, we'll never get anywhere. Oh, yes, I've learned so, so much. :)

Um..."fraternity"? I don't want to live in a world with "true fraternity," which, at its root, is comity among men alone.

Where do women figure in this socialist Shangri-La centered around community? Certainly not in the the language you use to describe it.
