Title: It Broke You
Author's Notes: All my poems are not fanfic and are personal.
It broke you;
The pain was in your eyes.
Perhaps it was in your voice
With broken words
Or with words unspoken.
It broke you;
Private and personal bruises
That never showed on the surface.
A wound invisible to the eyes
That you just tried to hide.
It broke you;
Empty words of sympathy
Accompanied by useless offers
Despite the fact you feel alone
And you can't share your pain.
It broke you;
Tears shamelessly shed in private
Without prying eyes gauging
And judging as if the number of tears
Equal the amount of pain.
It broke you;
The agony was like a deep cut
Hitting an unknown artery.
It bled out without any blood
To coat your hands or the floor.
It broke you;
Standing up with tears still there
You continued with your life
With everything that was routine
Knowing it would never be the same.
It broke you;
It does not define you.
You use it to move forward
As a reason to keep going
And a goal in the back of your mind.
It broke you;
It doesn't hinder you
As you strive forward.
You never forget and remember
But try to turn it into motivation.
It broke you;
But it doesn't stop you.
But it doesn't hinder you.
But it didn't destroy you.
But you're still breathing.
