Choices about family vs career are not easy.

Children do take money. I chose family over career. I love my kids and would not trade them but sometimes I wonder at the timing. I wish I could care for them better. My son is special ed and needs certain therapies. Insurance doesn't cover it, I applied for aid and they didn't cover much and my husband doesn't make much.

I'm in college again but it will take awhile before I am earning and can provide the therapies. Meanwhile, he gets older.

The "what-if's" can definitely make you sit back and wonder. And while money can't buy happiness, it sure can make some things easier. I'm so sorry that things are so difficult but I do hope that once you graduate and get started on your career that you can provide for them the way that you'd wish to. Good luck to you and I wish you very well in your endeavors.

I just...I kick myself for not thinking of the "what if's" back then. I didn't think, "What if my child has problems insurance doesn't cover?"

I just assumed that everything would work out.

I guess we can't plan for everything. But I know if someone like me (I married at 19) ever asks my advice on the future, I won't say to follow in my steps.

But in time, right? In time. At least I am moving closer.

Thanks for your kind words. I'm sorry to be so...gloomy:P

You are indeed moving closer and that's the important thing. Just keep at it. :-)

Very good story-telling. Realistic and sad.

It's not a decision I'd wish to have to make, that's for sure. Thank you so much.
