*HUGS* Just breathe. I know you can do it! You are not a failure; if your dad says so, tell him to take a long walk off a short bridge. You've worked hard for this opportunity.
And I know what you mean about the rich/spoiled kids. Granted, I will say that I was one of the ones who lived in the dorms, but I wasn't allowed to have a job during school and now, two years later, I am regretting it. Maybe you an switch jobs? I hear work study on campus works very well for most people. :)
Yes, I agree with Michelle. Student loans are good, plus it builds up good credit when you pay it off. Also, since you're the ebay expert, try looking there for a computer. All throughout college I used a Dell (evil) computer that had Windows 2000 on it. Everyone else had newer and faster, but I was content just writing my papers and surfing the net.
We're here for you. Whether it's a warm meal or a good laugh. We do love you! :)
We're all pretty ready to kill people due to stress during school and working. Why don't you come stay at my house? We have a pull out bed (or my bed :-*), you can do your homework here, we'll make you dinner.
Secondly, read the Sunday paper. I got an $800 laptop for $400- I then bought the $300 "no matter what happens to this computer in the next 3 years its covered" warranty, just because even with it, it was still less than the cost of the computer originally- but my point is, you can get some really great deals. If you work every Sunday ever, maybe you can delegate me or someone to go to the store for you. I totally love you enough for that.
Yes, apply for loans. You can take out federal- you don't have to pay them until you've been graduated for 6 months and they accumulate no interest- loans- not for the whole $6000, the amount varies depending on what year you are in school etc- meet with a financial aid adviser at URI.
