A/N: I’m out of the loop, has anyone heard anything yet?

1 am.

Or was it 2 by now?

It was late whatever the time, but for three nerve wracked artists sleep was not an option.

Seoul’s lights, never totally extinguished, overwhelmed all but the brightest of heaven’s stars. Their beauty all the more pleasing because of the strength needed just to be seen.

Huddled on a balcony in the heart of the city were three young men. Three Gods of the East. Giants who had the power to take over the world, but who at the moment felt very small indeed.

Yoongwoong. Xiah. Micky.

Their very names held power. The power to wreak absolute havoc or accomplish great things. Usually they wore their names with pride. Tonight though, it was only Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun. Not Gods, just men scared and uncertain.

Pressed shoulder to shoulder they sat quiet, thoughts kept to themselves. Jaejoong and Yoochun had finally quit smoking, but right now both were desperately wishing for a cigarette.

Though the night was sultry they huddled together for warmth. The cold they felt wasn’t in the air, but in their hearts.

Time, never a friend, passed by them in fits and starts. One moment the dawn would seem to be rushing towards them and then the next they felt as if the night would never end.

With the verdict due to be handed down Dong Bang Shin Ki knew that morning would bring change either good or bad.

Jaejoong just wanted it to be over. Yoochun wasn’t sure he was ready. Junsu, well Junsu was praying hard that the outcome would be in their favor.

On top of all the stress they were under they felt guilty for the worry that they knew Cassiopeia was suffering and at the same time so proud of how their fans were standing behind them.

As soon as news of the lawsuit was released an almost palpable wave of fear swept across the planet as fans from all over the world became anxious that their worst nightmare might be coming to pass. Statements made to the press were designed to let people know exactly what they were fighting for, but equally important was the need to reassure Cassiopeia that they were not on the brink of disbanding.

Officially, Dong Bang Shin Ki stood united. An unbreachable wall of solidarity against the underhanded machinations of SM Entertainment.

In reality the members felt very much divided. Not by words or actions, but by what wasn’t said. What wasn’t done.

Changmin and Yunho never condemned or criticized the other three for the stand they had taken, but they didn’t join them either. They felt that since they had signed on for this they had no one to blame but themselves.

Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu replied that they had been too young and ignorant to know exactly what it was that they were getting themselves into. The SM attorneys had made it sound as if they were being offered everything they ever dreamed of. What they left out was the ridiculously long hours, lack of sleep, being kept in the dark concerning the amount of money that they made, loss of all control over the smallest of details, crushing pressure and near starvation.

The three of them felt that signing minors into what amounted to slavery was a crime and it needed to be fought against. Not only for themselves, but for others as well.

Jae, Chun and Su knew that Yunho and Changmin understood them and held no blame, but it still felt like their actions had split Dong Bang Shin Ki in two. They just wished that the leader and magnae had joined them in the fight. Then they wouldn’t have been nearly as worried as they were. Together Dong Bang Shin Ki could do anything.

“What time is it?” Junsu’s normally robust voice was small in the dark of predawn.

Jaejoong checked the readout on his cell phone. “Almost 3.”

Su nodded his thanks and they were pressed so close together that Jaejoong felt it more than saw it.

Yoochun was dozing off and on against Jaejoong’s other shoulder, but the apprehension wasn’t letting him sleep for more than a few minutes at a time.

Jaejoong was so worried that he felt sick. He wanted to cry, but wouldn’t.

If they lost…..if they lost he would be okay no matter what happened but he would forever feel guilty towards his members and his fans.

He wanted to cry.

Swallowing the lump in his throat Jaejoong looked up as the sliding glass doors opened emitting Yunho and Changmin, both in their pajamas.

“Aren’t you guys going to bed? You’ll need to be rested for tomorrow.” Yunho’s query was a quiet murmur in the darkness.

Jaejoong just shook his head not trusting himself to speak.

“Hyung…” The unspoken knowing in Changmin’s voice brought Jaejoong’s tears that much closer to the surface. They might be called Soulfighters, but they understood each other better than the rest.

Sliding the door shut, Yunho sat next to Yoochun and laid his head on Chunnie’s shoulder who in turn laid his head back on Jaejoong’s.

Changmin, knowing that for Jaejoong hugging was just as comforting as being hugged, sat between his bandmate’s outstretched legs and pulled the elders arms around himself. As Jae rested his forehead against Changmin’s back, Min reached out and took Junsu’s hand. When Jaejoong gripped their entwined fingers it was almost painful.

Without a word Yunho laid his hand on top of theirs. Yoochun followed suit a moment later.

“Whatever happens tomorrow,” Yunho said, “We are always going to be together.”

And just like that the worst of the fear was gone. They were still worried, but like Yunho said, whatever happens they would always be together.

They would always be Dong Bang Shin Ki.
