Does anyone know of a way to have your own domain name without having your personal details available to anyone who can spell 'whois'?

I have tried to find a way and so far I have failed. :/

Damn. I understand why the ability to find that info is needed, but it should only be available to people like the police for criminal offences, not to just anyone who wants to harrass you because they don't like your site.
